High Elf Reinforcements, 3 mm

As I promised last post here are the new companies I have added to the High Elf army in 3 mm, along with a couple of extra towers all painted up from the 3 mm castle I built a month or two ago. 

On the hill are some Heavy cavalry and some light cavalry companies. Generally the Heavy Cav always have 8 models on a base and the Light Cav have 5. Its easier to tell them apart. Also you have the General mounted on a Dragon...had to happen didn't it? More pictures of her/him later.

At the foot of the hill we have 4 companies of chariots, which were fiddly but fun to make and paint.

Two bolt throwers sit atop the towers, guarding the flanks.

To go with the company of White Lionesque models I built in my tutorial, I added another for symmetry and fun. 

I now have 4 companies of Heavy Cav to field.

Also I have these two companies of Light Cav as well.

The General in all her/his splendour atop a tower.

Finally the complete group to be added to the ranks of the High Elf Army

There are two areas that I am very much aware need my attention. First is a report of a game in 3mm, I have been so wrapped up in making stuff forgot to play and.... the exact same goes for the 10 mm Frostgrave campaign I have invested time in and promised to launch into several times.

Both these items need to be rectified urgently.

 

Anglo Saxons in 10 mm

Back in April I posted some pictures of the 10 mm card Vikings I had been making and it seemed only fair that the Anglo Saxons get the same treatment, so here they are.

This is the whole army and I can't see myself making any more as I'm concentrating on Later Romans at the moment and then Ancient Greeks will be getting the same. Plenty to get on with.

Dwarf Reinforcements: 3 mm

I mentioned a while ago that there were some more 3 mm models I wanted to add to my Dwarf army and here they are.

Some were just to even out the units, like the Shieldwall company in the centre of the picture above.

Some were the other way round like the 3 companies of Outcasts/Berserkers, as previously I only had one company and that is plainly not enough!

I also had fun making a Gyrocopter. I will make at least 2 more of these. 

The aforementioned Shieldwall. 

Two companies of Bear riders, new to the army as well. There will have to be more of these.

Finally a Steam Tank, which was fun to create and paint. Can't have Dwarves without a Steam Tank of some sort. At least one more of these will make an appearance.

I tried to take a close up with Macro setting on my phone.... but could not get close enough for it to kick in, sorry.

I enjoyed making these, its a good way of adding to an existing army without too much struggle. Seven companies are quite doable.

Modular Castle for 3mm sieges

It felt right that I should make some more 3 mm terrain and so set about building a simple castle.

I built it from the card packaging Amazon use to send books or flat ish items.

Its not bad quality I often use it for bases on 3 mm or 10 mm miniatures. It s good because it holds glue well, especially PVA and is good to cut with a knife.

The company of Dwarf warriors is for comparison, not because I see this as a Dwarf castle, in fact I intend creating some flags so it can be used by all the armies. 

I can also see myself making perhaps one extra building for each nation to make the structure more "their's".

Had fun making this over the last few days and will be getting down to paint it shortly.

One thing I had to do today was to slide some 1p pieces into the interior of the wall sections, to give them a little more weight. Helped towards making the sections more stable on the tabletop.

From above....obviously. (forgive my stupidity, its beyond my control).

All separated out into it constituent parts, wont be hard to store as its so small.

The next 3 mm project I'll be posting on will be the Free Men 3 mm army for Fantastic Battles that I am in the middle of making. Well at least the preliminary companies for the army anyway.

 

Goblin Reinforcements: 3 mm

I added 10 new companies to the 3 mm Goblins this week. I'd had a look through the miniatures I had made and realised I was a bit lite in certain areas.

I added a couple of companies of Axemen taking me to 4 companies in total.

Similarly with  the Gobo spears, taking them to 4 companies in all.

I added 4 companies of wolf riders, which I managed to make a tad too large, but I will live with the look. Now I can field 6 wolf rider companies in a game.

Next a completely new company, these I imagined would be giant squig types, one of my favourite Gobo units when I used to play Warhammer many years ago.

I have to create a new company card before these can be used.

Next month the Dwarves are getting a similar series of additions, so watch out for that.
