MUMG: Iron Man

Was a little bit taken back when Knight Models decided to drop their support of Marvel Universe Miniatures Game. More than anything because it meant that the miniatures available suddenly became very expensive. So I had a look on Ebay at Heroclix, just to see what they were like and really decided that they weren't too bad at all.

So here is Iron man, removed from his clix base and repainted, I'm quite happy with him, have Thor and Spiderman on order, will be posting them when all done.

Here he is alongside the Knight models I already had.
Think I need to play a game at some point too :-)

Saga: Vikings V Welsh

Got to play my first game of Saga last night and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Simple where it needed to be and full of character all over the place.

Ian and I played the scenario where the warlord has to be killed, but to be honest I was more interested in bashing stuff and getting used to the way the battleboard worked.

Not going to go into the details of the actual game too much, this is not a battle report.

Ian did a great job of leading us through our first game and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the strategy/process of deciding where I was going place the dice on the battleboard, when I got a choice.

In the end I managed to slay his Welsh warlord, a terrible betrayal on my part as I have very old Welsh ancestry :-(

Good use of Heimdall gave me extra dice in the combat between the Warlords, without it I would probably have lost.

As you can see the army has moved forward quite a bit, spent a lot of yesterday painting.

So all in all this is a game that I will want to play again, just when could be a problem, as my next 2 weeks are all planned out. D&D next week, Necromunda the week after and unfortunately Ian is leaving the area to go live in Lancashire soon.... traitor :-)

Intend finishing painting the army and then find the 3 other lads that are playing at the club, the Vikings will get another outing soon I am sure.

Saga: Viking Warband First Paint Tests

Here are my first goes at painting the Viking Saga Warband I have put together. All the models have some paint on them, mainly chainmail, then I have painted one Hearthguard, one Warrior, one Berserker and one Levi Archer.

Hearthguard

Levi Archer, probably the worst one I converted to be honest, but there you go.

Berserker

Warrior

Saw this shield design on the net, will try to find out who had first painted it, smashing design. Will at some point be adding some tufts of grass to finish the bases off, but at the moment I don't have any.

At present the Levi Archers will get painted, but last of all, I have recieved, from Riot, advice that they may not be very useful and since I don't even have access to the rules yet, I am going to listen carefully and save my time. Cheers Riot :-)

Saga: 6 Point Viking Force

For the last few weeks I have been looking into getting stared on Saga, then Ian at the club voiced an interest and bought the rules and Dave and a few others played this Monday just gone.

So I decided it was time to grab the remnants of the Gripping Beast Vikings I had and add some old GW miniatures into the fray and get going.

Four berserkers. Made from Warlord Celts with goblin cloaks and GB Viking weapons and finally GS to finish off.

My female warlord from the Dice Bag Lady, Vaguely Lagertha looking.

Eight Hearthguard, I gave all these swords.

Twelve Levi archers, made from GW Bretonion archers with extra GS round the neck and feet and GB Viking heads.

Sixteen Warriors all with hand axes. Gripping Beast plastics, very nice.

The I covered all the bases in PVAcrete to level up the bases and now all I have to do is paint the buggars, don't think I've ever put a complete army together and then had to paint the lot.
Will see how it goes and blog the results, undercoating by hand tonight!

Frostgrave/Mordheim: Scatter Terrain

I made these to be placed mainly in buildings to create areas of rubble although they could be used scattered about as general terrain. I've been ttrying to work out a way to make the buildings more rustic and dilapidated without making the surface unplayable.

These are all made from bits from my odds and ends box and left over hardboard pieces to make the bases.

Some without flash.

Anyway this is how I envisioned them being used. First the building without the rubble pieces and then with. This is a building I made several years ago.

With scatter pieces.
