Kill Team : Astra Militarum: Rogue's Troopers

Not a very imaginative name for my Kill Team, Astra Militarum but there you go, it fits as I'm trying to make them look a bit like the Genetic Infantryman from the pages of 2000AD, one of my favourite comics ever.

Above the my Infantry Squad Guardsmen, with:
Sergeant with a Plasma pistol and power sword (Leader)
Gunner with Plasma gun
Guard with Vox caster (Medic)
7 Guards with lasguns

I have glued 2 pence pieces to the base of each model to give them some weight.

Above the Special Weapons Squad with:
Gunner with Grenade Launcher (Sniper)
Gunner with Flamer
Gunner with Plasma gun (Veteran)
4 Guards lasguns

You will remember I started these a while back, but lost the impetus to complete them, but now we have Kill Team :-)

When all the sheets are complete and names sorted I will post some of them.

For those of you that do not know. Rogue Trooper is a Sci-fi strip in the GB comic 2000 AD created by Gerry Finlay-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981. It follows the adventures of Rogue a Genetic Infantryman, genetically created, blue skinned, super soldier and his 3 comrades' search for the Traitor General. Rogue is genetically engineered to be immune to all known toxins, can submerge in strong acid unaffected and is able to withstand a vacuum in his bare skin.
From Wikipedia

Mostly, as I remember, he fought alone apart from Helm, Gunnar and Bagman, who are biochip implants in the appropriate equipment, all killed by the Traitor, hence the vendetta. So my force is going to be a little larger.

D&D 5e: Character Roll Call

This is an odd post, the reason why I'm doing it is because I have been spending so much more time playing D&D, in fact it is the only game I'm playing just at the moment. Either playing as a character, presently Ortis a Gnome fighter with verbal diarrhoea or as the DM in my own campaign.

For the last couple of years I have got back into playing D&D mainly through the WWarriors GC and in particular Lee Fellows, brother of Luke of the APS fame. I used to play when I was in my 20's but had a long time absent from the fun of role playing.

Above we have from left to right, Sub-aru, Gitstick, Plinker, Sangwala and Woof should have been here too. Presently only Sub-aru has managed to live throughout all our adventures, well done Steve :-)

In particular we have been playing a long campaign trying to claim a hidden island in the middle of a series of islands that is supposed to have wonderful treasures within.

However for me the tole of death has been quite difficult. It started with Manny the Wood Elf Monk, although fragile played very well, however he came to a very sticky end, having his throat slit by an angry Ogre

I then took on the mantle of Sangwala the Druidic Paladin, a character I thoroughly enjoyed playing but by dint of being mentally challenged, always rushed into situations a more thoughtful character may have considered dangerous, so when he was eaten by Zombies a couple of weeks ago defending his friends it was not a surprise to me.

Massive combat that saw Gitstick, the ranger Goblin, lightninged to death, a much loved character.

A few shots from an earlier game where Manny spent his time passing out and being dragged from combat.

So a lot of time I would have spend making terrain and painting whole armies has been diverted into creating maps and plans for my own games, or creating characters for Lee's campaign. It does mean I have less to post here but I have to say that I am really enjoying getting back into it.

Ta for listening

D&D5e: Area Terrain/Cavern tiles/Rubble piles

I made these for a specific part of my campaign in D&D, no more info than that because players maybe paying attention :-)

The whole process in outlined below, the only reason I used cork was cos I had 2 sheets a bit torn up by my cats and thought they might work.

I just tore them into the rough shapes I wanted.

This was the start of the problem gluing them together, I don't think I will ever use cork again I hate it.

Cork minced in the blender, cleaned thoroughly I might add.

Redbush tea from bags dried out, had a nice red hue.

Plain Tea form bags and dried out. The intention was to do no painting at all.

Sprayed with PVA and all the Tea added looked just the job, but refused to set despite numerous coats so in the end I blobbed thicker PVA on and then sprayed with some spray glue I got cheap.

I have to say that normally I would have done a hardboard base and some Modelling Compound to create height modulation and added stones and rubble, really wish I had as this did my head in, no painting.

Will post a further update to let you know how unhappy/happy I am with them.
Cheers for bearing with me.
