Chaos Hellgrinder

I have started building the first of what will be either 2 or 3 war machines for the Chaos Dwarfs to use in our games of Warhammer Quest. I still have a lot of building to do but I thought I would share where I am at present.

Basically the wheels are well on the way, I need to add further details to the front and larger middle set then I'll have to sort the thorny problem of how I seat the 2 Dwarfs and where I add the spikey parts. :-)

So far I have used cereal card, card packaging, a box of stuff from Ebay and some dowel I bought ages ago (it was in a sale 60p) to make pillars with and will probably never all get used. And of course and bit of hardboard for the base.

As I was in the garage I cut wheel parts and base sections for 2 complete machines, but Ican almost feel the third on calling to me as I speak.

It does occur to me that these wheels look something like the cogs and gears that appear in the titles of  Game of Thrones. They might also make interesting terrain as well.

Five Parsecs: Unity Trooper

Had a go at putting my idea of what a Unity trooper might look like together. Basically its a GW Marine with a new head made from a Christmas bead with a couple of bands round the neck and collar and a back pack made from green stuff.

Possibly a bit grey, but I wanted to give them the look of an uncaring bureaucratic force crushing the poor downtrodden masses beneath their mechanized, corporate jack boots! (Few, glad I got that off my chest!)

Might add some wire from the front to back over one shoulder on the next one, will see.

Unity trooper with Junke, to give a size comparison, thought the unity trooper would be larger.

Mantic Abyssal Dwarf Halfbreeds/Bull Centaurs

Started painting these a few days ago but was laid low by the winter vomiting virus, excellent! Am almost able to eat again now, but still not quite right. (possibly a normal state for me, some would say!)

Now that these are done I have some bits I would like to add to the model selection for the Chaos Dwarfs. Perhaps some large Golem type creatures, also some machines of war which would fill the dungeon and be different. So really some fun bits for me to make,

Then I have to sit down and either find cards for these monsters or create my own as I have often done in the past.

Five Parsecs: Pirates!

You will have seen these figures in the first mission of the crew of the SS Sulimann, they are, I believe, Orc models from the Gorkamorka game GW released a long time ago now. I never owned the game, these models came to me in a box of models that were going to be thrown away. I have been sitting on them for 5 years or so, great to see them finally put to use.

These are the first 4, I also have another 6 in the pipeline. I sort of took the colour scheme from a 2000AD character named Pulger, a psychotic lunatic who knocked around with DR and Quinch.

The inspiration, 2000AD, a comic I bought in 70's. Thank you Alan Moore and Alan Davis.

Hobgoblins Version 2

I was not at all happy with how the Hobgoblins were coming along. It called for some drastic action and that's what I did.

So having removed the torso from the Warlord Celts I added Goblin torso's arms and heads, they looked more suitable and slightly bent over, a more sneaky pose, I felt.

Five Parsecs: Denis Denis: Landing Craft

Was really inspired to create a Landing Craft this weekend from an old model that had fallen into disrepair. A long time ago I built an Eldar Falcon, when I used to play 40K. Well I came across the battered piece of space junk in a box and thought I know what that could be used as.

So spent hour rebuilding then another repainting/renaming and the result is the Denis Denis Landing Craft. This will feature as terrain in the next game.

There are no rules for vehicles in Five Parsecs at the moment, but I'm not worried, the intention is just to have it as part of the general fluff of the game.

All made from card, green stuff and a base of MDF.  Added a bottle cork to create the stand for under the craft. The only bit am not completely happy with are the vents, but there you go.

Chaos Dwarf Characters

Managed to put together three Chaos Dwarf characters: a Sorcerer, Champion and Lord. I may well make some more but not till I need them. I would like to try to recreate some of the special characters that appeared in the old Chaos dwarf Army Book, but that may be difficult.

I do have plenty of plastic Chaos Dwarfs and some cast bodies, I used the cast bits to create the models below, next the Hobgoblins are looming, somewhat scarily, through the gloom!!!

Once the Hobgoblins are pulled together I will take some pictures of the whole mob as they are mid way through the month. Feel reasonably confident I should be able to complete the Challenge.
