AOSigmar: Beastmen V Dark Elves (5)

Club night over in Wakefield last night and I got to play Chris with his Dark Elves. I was very interested to see how his army worked as I have loads of Dark Elves myself.

So after a huge discussion about the whys and wherefores of Marvel films and their union with Disney, which was interesting, we got on with the game.

The Dark Elves started deployment and so had the first turn.

Chris's Dark Elves:
Lord
Master BSB
Sorcereress
20 Darkshards
20 Corsairs
20 Black Guard
Hydra
10 Cold one Knights

My Beastmen were:

Doombull
Malagor
Morghur
20 Bestigor
10 Centigor
3 Tuskgor Chariots
5 Minotaurs
5 Razorgor

The only slight alteration was that the Minotaurs had Double handed weapons this time.

The Razorgor were wiped out by the Black Guard, they are really nasty!

The Bestigor slowly whittle the Cold one Knights down.

The Doombull and the Hydra sqaure up.

Although 3 Minotaurs were slain, they managed to kill 9 in return and the subsequent battleshock took another 4 Elves I believe.

Two handed weapons causing 3 wounds are very good!

The Corsairs and the Knights are nearly defeated,

As is the Doombull.

So while the Doombull is slaughtered

So is the Dreadlord.

The last Corsair is laid to rest.

But then the Hydra thumps the living daylights out of the Centigor. While the Master destroyed both Chariots.

In a final ditch attempt at victory the Bestigor plough in, while Malagor cast spells at the Hydra.

Despite this last picture, the Bestigor, much depleted, killed the Hydra.

This left the Beastmen and the Dark Elves very poorly off and Chris and I agreed to the battle being a draw.

Epilogue

This was a really enjoyable game, it was back and forth and great fun.
Two handed weapons that cause 3 wounds are very good.
Must learn to use the Razorgor better.
Ungor can be used... how?

AOSigmar: Beastmen V Tomb Kings Game 4

I think this will have been my fourth game and again its over at the club in Wakefield, which seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment, nice to see.

Steve and I were playing this week, same force org' as before, 8 scrolls, 20 wounds max per scroll and 2 monsters max.

My Beastmen were:

Doombull
Malagor
Morghur
20 Bestigor
10 Centigor
3 Tuskgor Chariots
5 Minotaurs
5 Razorgor

Deployment shots, we played table quarter to table quarter.

Steve's Tomb Kings were:

Royal Warsphinx
Liche Priest (I think)
Necrotect (I think!)
5 Ushabti
4 Tomb Scorpions
10 Skeleton Horsemen
20 Tomb Guard
Necrosphinx

Steve summoned 2 units of 10 skeletons.

The Razorgor came a right cropper, causing only 4 wounds and being slaughtered by the Tomb Guard.

The Tuskgor chariots took out the raised Skeletons.

Down on the left flank the Bestigor took advantage of a failed charge by the Necrosphinx.

Eventually the Necroshinx is destroyed. The Bestigor are charged by the Skeleton Horsemen and Skeleton warriors.

The Tomb Scorpions pop up behind the Minotaurs and slay 2.

The Doombull and Maughtor are surrounded. At the same time my camera decided it was time to go all sepia on me.

The Ushabti charge the chariots.

The Doombull lays into the Tomb Guard and over 2 rounds kill them all.

Protracted combats in the centre of the field. The Beastmen are slowly losing ground though.

The last of the Bestigor are finished off

The Chariot is taken out.

With the Minotaurs demise the game was called, by me, Steve had won a great victory. I really enjoyed the game yet again, and still feel that I am working on the tactics of the game.

Epilogue

Tomb Scorpions popping up 6" away and then charging is devastating.
Summoning can be useful.
I managed to kill the tomb Guard this time, but it cost 2 units, the Razorgor and the Doombull.
The Necrosphinx took a while to kill and took a lot of the Centigor out.
The Tuskgor chariots kept the Ushabti at bay the whole game.
That weapons which triple up their wounds really hurt.
Tried to use Bestgor with Centigor fighting over the top with their 2" range, but it never came off.

Generally I felt that the game went much better than the last Tomb kings game.
I will try to work out some combo's and/or some formations.
There was little movement in the last 2 turns- a bit static. Need to understand and use retreating more.

Still enjoying the game, well played Steve.

AOSigmar: Beastmen V Chaos Warriors: Game 3

Played last night against Mark over at the Wakefield Warriors Games Club and had a really good time. This is my 3rd game now and I am enjoying playing to be honest, but it is a very different game to WFB. Soon I will be receiving my Kings of War Kickstarter stuff and that will be giving me another sort of battle game to play. We are keeping with 8 scrolls, max 20 wounds in a unit and 2 monsters max.

Beastman Army
Doombull
Morghur
Malagor
5 Minotaurs
3 Tuskgor Chariots
5 Razorgor
20 Gor
20 Bestigor

Mark's Chaos Warriors
Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount
Shaggoth
5 Trolls
4 Skullcrushers of Khorne
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
Gorebeast Chariot
6 Chaos Knights

Sorry about the silly angles, I have learned my lesson and will never do it again :-(

Experimented with rushing forward and using the Beastman ability to run and charge.

Brought the Razorgor round the building hoping to bottleneck the Lord and the chariot.

But the Knights helped to crash into the Tuskgor chariots, who had failed their charge in the previous turn.

Bestigor held out well with Mystic shield and inspiring presence to aid them.

Looked like the Chaos lord would take Morghur out of the game, but he failed his charge.
In response Morghur took three wounds from the Lord with Devolve.

Bestigor slowly whittled away!

Razorgor to the rescue, finish off the Lord.

Last Bestigor crushed by the Trolls and Skullcrushers

Over 2 rounds of combat the Razorgor kill the Gorbeast Chariot.

And at this point Mark and I called the game an honourable draw.

Epilogue
One thing that I definitely learned last night was that I don't know what to do with the Gors. They are a big unit that get in the way and don't have a role to play yet, they need further thought.
The Razorgor were fun, they had two big charges and two big wins, finishing off the Chaos lord and the Chariot.
My chariots are a great tar pit, especially since it takes quite a while before they start taking Battleshock tests.
But the biggest thumbs up must go to the two shamen, Malagor amd Morghur, who between them really held the army together. They used a combo of mystic shield to help some units hold in there while using Arcane Bolt and Viletide to destroy others. Four spells a turn was devastating.

Great game Mark, thanks very much.
