Stargrave: More Terrain

Another look at some of the terrain I intend using for Stargrave in the next month. Made a while ago but still up to the job I think. Originally made for Five Parsecs from Home which also has a book coming out soon, and which I have ordered. The PDF looks very nice, can't wait for the book.

All made from junk, cardboard, hardboard and foamcard as well as cereal card

Really looking forward to playing both Stargrave and Five Parsecs from Home, quite different games.

Kill Team: First Contact

Was down at the Wakefield Wargaming Club on Thursday and was lucky enough to have my first game of Killteam against Luke.

We played on the board he had been working on recently and I have to say, although I am biased, it looked very good. Very realistic.

Oddly enough we were playing Astra Militarium Vs Astra Militarium, which meant we should have been able to pick up the basics quickly enough between us. As it turned out we would have missed loads if Chris hadn't helped us out. Cheers Chris.

We only fielded 10 models each to get us used to the game.

Basically my Rogue Troopers couldn't hit a barn door for the first three turns and Luke took the game with consistent and well rolled fire each turn.

My lot with loads of flesh wounds and checks to make from early on.

Luke's troops seemed to be able to stand in the open with impunity, undoubtedly singing some merry ditty from somewhere in Wales, and not get shot at all!

Slowly the Rogues were being picked off.

If it hadn't been for my plasma bearing fella and the Medic I don't think I would have scored a single hit.

In the end the Rogue Troopers lost the skirmish by quite some way, loosing 7 of their team of 10, playing up to my usual standards.

Cheers for a fun game Luke and ta for help with the rules Chris.

Kill Team : Astra Militarum: Rogue's Troopers

Not a very imaginative name for my Kill Team, Astra Militarum but there you go, it fits as I'm trying to make them look a bit like the Genetic Infantryman from the pages of 2000AD, one of my favourite comics ever.

Above the my Infantry Squad Guardsmen, with:
Sergeant with a Plasma pistol and power sword (Leader)
Gunner with Plasma gun
Guard with Vox caster (Medic)
7 Guards with lasguns

I have glued 2 pence pieces to the base of each model to give them some weight.

Above the Special Weapons Squad with:
Gunner with Grenade Launcher (Sniper)
Gunner with Flamer
Gunner with Plasma gun (Veteran)
4 Guards lasguns

You will remember I started these a while back, but lost the impetus to complete them, but now we have Kill Team :-)

When all the sheets are complete and names sorted I will post some of them.

For those of you that do not know. Rogue Trooper is a Sci-fi strip in the GB comic 2000 AD created by Gerry Finlay-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981. It follows the adventures of Rogue a Genetic Infantryman, genetically created, blue skinned, super soldier and his 3 comrades' search for the Traitor General. Rogue is genetically engineered to be immune to all known toxins, can submerge in strong acid unaffected and is able to withstand a vacuum in his bare skin.
From Wikipedia

Mostly, as I remember, he fought alone apart from Helm, Gunnar and Bagman, who are biochip implants in the appropriate equipment, all killed by the Traitor, hence the vendetta. So my force is going to be a little larger.

Rogue Trooper Unit

Carried on with the Rogue themed Astra Militarium yesterday and managed to paint another 9 to a half reasonable standard. Looking at these I think I need to spend some more time working on the skin tones. Its a bit blocky to say the least.

I like how they look from a distance, so on the tabletop they'll be fine, but when you see them through the lens of a camera/phone then.....

My first unit complete, think I will launch into another and then I have a couple of Chimera that need repainting and giving some insignia to draw them together with the Rogue Trooper feel.

Not sure what weaponry I can put into each unit at the moment, not having a rulebook, but not going to worry about that for the moment, just having fun.
