KOW: Stone Priest

Following on from my revamped Stone Priest fo last week I knew it would only be a matter of time till I reworked the other I intended to use. Here it is.

I made the "rock" bit from half a foam board pillar I had made and done nothing with, trimmed a bit and covered in PVAcrete.
I had intended writing something on its top, but then saw a left over large, green glass bead which called out to me. So I stuck it on with some cheap superglue which sort of worked, but left a few stains, what can you do?

I think the runes are the same as those on Killi's stone in the Hobbit film, but I could be wrong!

Looking at these I realised the bead is slightly off centre, trying not to think about it just in case my OCD kicks in and I have to remove it and start again!

KOW: Herd Eagles (Use your imagination please)

Never contend with just one project on the go, I thought I would share something else that is half completed... These are going to be for my Herd army, my take on Herd type Eagles, yup made from cheap plastic toys from Home Bargains yet again and loads of green stuff.

Poor zebra with their forelegs removed and wings added. The block of hardboard alters the angle at which they stand so they are more upright. I wanted them to have a herd feel, bovine, animalistic that sort of thing, hence the zebra. Oh and also the zebra were the only animal I had left from the box I had bought.

So what have we got on the go so far:

Mordheim terrain,
These Herd Eagles,
Earth Elementals
Re-modelling Stone Priest,
Finishing off painting Dwarf units,
Re-modelling impassible terrain for the club.

Many of these projects will be finished either today or tomorrow and will post more when I can.

The wings are a cereal card former with GS laid on top in stages, otherwise they get even more untidy than mine are. I know, hard to believe isn't it?

Mordheim: Scatter Terrain

Thought I would share how far I've got with the scatter terrain I drew some time earlier this month. It is coming together but seems to be taking quite a while to finish off.

Also I thought it might be nice to see how I have gone about making the terrain.

The crates are all made from reclaimed card, packing boxes and cereal card. All the jars and barrels are from Fimo, which I am beginning to like more and more. The bases are from reclaimed hardboard, sand and cereal card.

This one will be finished today, may well post again in all its glory!

KOW: Earth Elementals/Bears

Been thinking recently how I can use chaff units in my Dwarf army and decided that perhaps elementals maybe worth a try. They are quite expensive, but they also hit pretty hard and don't waver, they just die.

I was thinking that 2 regiments of 3 would give me something to play with. I have 4 bears already built so I only needed another 2. (See how this worked out in my latest battle report against the Goblins, previous post, for the answer.)

These Earth Elementals were made from GW wolves with extensions to their rear hips and spine, made from sprue, then filled with GS.

First time I've shot bear elementals in front of a Breville Monkey Baster. ( Or toaster as its more commonly known.)

KOW: Dwarfs V Goblins 2000 points

Over at the Wakefield Warriors Games Club on Monday, my Dwarfs found themselves up against the horror that is Lee's Goblin Horde, in a 2000 point battle.

The Ogres are being used as Trolls. The lone Ogre shooters are Goblin Trombones.

Love the way he has based all these Goblins, they look great.

His Troll Bruiser is rather special as well.

My army had changed a little with the inclusion of the Bear Elementals, 2 regiments and 1 Horde.

Sorry about the green on the bears, some were only finished that afternoon.

The elemental regiments were to be expensive chaff.

After taking out the horde of goblins, the bears and moose found themselves up to their necks in Troll.

The Bear regiments turned out to be harder for the Goblins to shift, I expected them to die but the def 6 made them rather tough.

Sorry no flash, blurry and orange.

Moose and Bears managed to route the troll bruiser, but the bears were hurt.

Lee curses the Dwarf General with his giant finger!!!!

Despite causing about 28 wounds I managed to roll snake eyes for the rout test!!!!

Near the end of the game and my berserkers were being breathed to pieces.

But despite all that, the game was declared a win for the Dwarfs.
Yes I am in a state of shock, 3 wins in a row.

Epilogue:
The general did little and may be replaced with another Stone Priest. Two bain chants may well be useful.
Bears will be used more.
Will put the Heal Artefact on the BSB and lose the holy handgrenades, since I only remembered them once this game, and they missed!
