Small Water Features: Ponds/Pools

These are a set of pool/ponds I have made recently for my son for his birthday, although being in Bristol and me in Yorkshire it may a while before he can get them.

A few close ups.

The full set.

Here are the propriety pictures I took as I made them.

Built up the edge of the bank with some spare bits of foam board.

Lost the pictures of me applying the PVAcrete, sorry.

All undercoated with Mocha brown emulsion.

Geek Gaming foam flock added.

Along with some small stones from a Welsh beach.

I glued them in place with superglue to secure them quickly and fully.

I dry brushed a lighter tan round the edges of the bank and worked a darker patch into the centre of the pool to suggest depth.

Then I added further flock and lastly varnished the water repeatedly.

Last I added tufts again from Geek Gaming, these are odds and ends I collect up which would be thrown at the end of the day.

Last Refurbisment ....for now

This is my last post concerning the refurbishing work I have been carrying out. Today it is the turn of the single tower.

Looks loads better in my opinion and weighs a ton, far more detailed and generally more use in games.

Have just realised I forgot to paint the windows, ah well! One last thing to do.

Quick reminder of how it looked till a month ago.

Basically lots of PVAcrete and sculpted details to bring it to life.

Next post will concern a project for my son, will be posting in a couple of days.

Briton Warband and Longhouse

Painted up my barn/longhouse and stuck it alongside my newly based and tufted Briton 10mm 1500 point KOW army.

Very happy with how it looks and now intend creating 3 or 4 more to create a little Hamlet or village.

I undercoated it black, then overbrushed some brown/mocha emulsion. Then I built up with dry brushing a a lighter brown emulsion and finally a light brush with Egyptian Cotton (Dulux test pot).

Think the tufts and rebasing the Celts have really brought the army together.

May have to create some Roman buildings now too.
