KOW: New Orc War Drum

When I was putting together my list for the game I played last week I realised that just one War Drum was not going to cut it.

Each gives a non-accumulative +2 to Nerve scores within 6", which can be very powereful in Kings of War.

However when one gives a 12" bubble, only part of the army can be covered, so another had to be made.

I cut a cork in half from a Champagne bottle, no I didn't drink it, loads of my mates horde stuff for me. Covered the top with a rough bit of GS spread badly over the top and added the end of cocktail sticks at the tighteners.

So now I have two War Drums and look forward to another game with them.

D&D: Players Character Storage Box

For a very long time my players have been keeping all the sundry bits and pieces which constitute their player characters in a box with all the bits sloshing about and getting mixed up.

I wanted to create each player a separate box that was small and that all the cards, dice, markers and models could all fit and also be a dice tray that didn't take up too much room on the table.

This is the prototype, I am part way through the 2nd two and they should be complete by the end of the week.

 Its surprisingly solid and robust when its had its edges filled with PVAcrete and then had layers of paint and clear poly varnish.

The dice tray has foam stuck in the bottom to stop the clatter.

I have made spell slot markers before, but I decided to make some new ones, which are a bit smaller than the previous types I had made. Mrs Daxio prefers them.

Got this idea from Hankerin Ferinale of Runehammer Games fame. Space for 2 D10 to show wounds and a "precious thing" to show when a player has Inspiration.

The whole kit and kaboodle that all fits inside the box.

All in all I'm happy with how it came out and am currently building the second two.

KOW: Orc, Krudger, Flagger and War Drum

Following on from last week and the gathering of thew Horde I realised I needed a few more units and characters to give me plenty of variety to my army.

So here are two characters and a "monster" (War Drum) that I have customised the next job is to get them all painted up.

 The War Drum, made from a couple of spare unit drummers and champagne cork cut in two. The top of the cork had some GS draped over it roughly and I used the end of cocktail sticks for the tension mechanisms.

The nearest drummer only had one beater so I drilled a hole in his hand and added a cocktail stick and some GS to create a new one.

The Flagger, with extra bits added to his pole, so to speak, to give him a bit more life.

I also added a new GS tale to the boar as its original had long gone.

Finally the Krudger on boar, with extra spiky bits to give him some needed height.

I also had to build up the fur at the base of the spikes for it to work and again a new tale was added, but not a piggy one, they break too easily.

Next job is to paint the things :-)

Revamped/Painted Wall Sections

Some while ago I posted some pictures of wall sections and ruins which I had made a while ago, perhaps 2 years now, but that I felt needed reworking to give more character.

I have thrown in some models to give a sense of scale and use, a serving suggestion if you will :-)

The main work was to remodel the actual walls, so they appeared more ruined and  then they were sculpted over with PVAcrete.

The archways were not remodeled but had the PVAcrete added.

I still have a whole box load of wall sections that I will have to work on. These are much nicer and I really won't want to play with the poorer set till complete.

Think they will be used most often in games of D&D but I can see them being used in KOW too.
