Orctober Project

Not exactly an Orc, but the hybrid offspring of a Troll and a Goblin, you know the character.
I will try to get this model finished and painted for the Orctober challenge. Could be difficult as I have loads of games to report or play and very little time.

I built two versions of Grom so I could have him mounted and unmounted, god knows why.
I think these two will become twin Hybrid brothers that I will use in my KOW Goblin army and they will have a new name and background.

Gromulus and Gremus I think.

Gromulus and Gremus were built from and orc body, a goblin head a ton of GS and the axe was hand made from a cocktail stick and card.

The chariot is mainly a GW one with an extra wolf and some extra details/horns/banner bits etc

KOW: Bear Fit for a Dwarf Lord?

Completed the Dwarf Lord I'm using in my next game of Kings of War, and the first with my new(ish) Dwarf army. How late is it?

Can't decide whether to give the actual bear a coat of stain.

I have removed the small bit of blue tac from the bucket.

KOW: Dwarf Lord on Bear

This what the Lord may well look like, hopefully before Thursday.

On the card pieces I intend adding card runes to give them some depth. Straps will pull the whole thing together I hope.

The bucket, barrel and chest are all hand made by me, taken from my huge selection of Dungeon furniture for Quest. The axe I made ages ago and the card pieces are from a now defunct board game.

The Dwarf was in a box of old models from Ebay and I'll add lots of little bits from my bits box, pouches, drum, pistol etc. The matting is going to form the base of the throw the dwarf will sit on.

KOW: Shieldbreakers Horde

Can you imagine, work getting in the way of modelling, awful idea! But there you go. Inbetween working I've been finishing off the last of the Shieldbreakers and making 2 last movement trays. Yes I thought I had done them all too!

Several years ago I bought a load of cheap Dwarfs through Ebay, very old early 90's plastic miniatures, and this unit is a combination of those and 7 newer models and some converted Dwarfs from the Skull Pass set. They all have double handed axes now and I still have enough for a unit of Iron Guard (Hammerers) as well.

All three styles side by side.

Here with the Rangers, who need their bases finishing, there is always something isn't there!

Just the General on a huge polar bear to do and the basic 2000 points is done. Need it for Thursday when I play Mick.

KOW: Dwarf Army Update

All the movement trays are made for my new KOW Dwarfs army and I only have a couple more units to pain/model and they're all done.

Loved the way the movement trays turned out. I've done all the trays with the same brick pattern inside.

Two units of 20 Slayers

Armoured bears as Elementals.

Days of Warhammer Past

Here's a bit of a glimpse into my somewhat sordid past. When I first started to play WFB  back in the early 90's I played with "Flat" models made from card and these designs that I painted onto paper with acrylics.

Steve only reminded me on Monday just how odd it was to play against someone whose army winked out of existence when they turned to the side. But I really enjoyed making these and playing with them.

How did I make them? Well I would get these sheets copied, had no PC at the time, and used to cut the inner core from thick card, 10 at a time on my small bandsaw. At the time I was a bandsaw operator for a company in Bradford. Then hand cut the copies, back and front, glue them with wood glue, make a base and there you go.

I do not have any examples left, I gave them all away years ago.

Club Night: KOW and Deadzone

Over at Wakefield last night and thought I would take a few pictures of some of the games.

Luke and Lee were playing Deadzone on their fantastic terrain.

Loads of lovely details which really brought the game to life.

I believe the game was quite quickly won by Luke.

Me and the Ginger Prince AKA Steve, played a whirlwind game of Kings of War, which ended with him giving me a right thick ear!

Sound movement and as a result, side and rear charges made life very difficult for the Herd.

Slightly after this the warriors here were destroyed and I was in no position to respond,
a great victory was won by The Empire of Dust.

All hail the Ginger Prince!
